Operating under orders from the Ukrainian government, the Ecologists are a group focusing on researching the Zone, in order to properly harness its potential for the good of mankind. Their base of operations is a sturdy bunker at Lake Yantar, filled with scientific apparatuses and a steady supply of weapons and ammunition. The head researcher is Professor Sakharov, a veteran Ecologist, who participated in the first expeditions into the Zone in 2007. Originally the Ukrainian Military itself protected the scientists' bunker, but their garrison force was all but obliterated by emissions of the Miracle Machine in lab X16, turning the survivors into zombies. The scientists now greatly rely on Loners and Mercenaries looking for work, or Duty to do their field work, since most Ecologists aren't particularly combat-proficient.

The Ecologists focus primarily on research of new energy sources, antigravity, genome modification and teleportation, spearheading revolutionary research by studying and dissecting artifacts and mutants.

Another one of their key areas of research was Lab X-16 and the psi emitter located within. In order to be able to explore the area safely, they created a special Psi-Helmet, which can protect the wearer from low intensity psionic fields.

Recently after the Brain Scorcher was de-activated, the Ecologists expanded further into the zone with their new mobile laboratory based in Yanov under the leadership of Professor Hermann.

Of all the Zone's factions, the Ecologists are the most neutral, only being enemies to the Monolith,

SIRCAA

The Scientific Institute for Research of the Chornobyl Anomalous Area, or SIRCAA (ukr. Науково-дослідний інститут Чорнобильської аномальної зони, or НДІЧАЗ) is a government-controlled scientific organization established to conduct research within the Zone.

 It is the de facto successor of the Ecologists.

 

SIRCAA was established sometime after 2012 by the Ukrainian government after Strelok passed on the information he found at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant to the USS Commanders. Strelok immediately took up the position of chief scientific consultant.

The institute is headed by Dr. Dalin. Professor Hermann is one of the senior researchers.

​Both Factions are a merged functional entity for player purposes in the ASW/SML Events series.
Players may feel free to RP as either entity. Eco/SIRCAA Tickets cost slightly less at the Fall Hybrid events because they are expected to turn the anomaly LED systems back on at 12:OO at night when the timers go off, as well as aid in distributing new artifacts during each blowout/emission.

This faction is also by far the most RP focused. nearly 95% of their gameplay is RP.

Eco/SIRCAA Equipment Rules:
ALL field Eco/SIRCAA players and NPCS MUST abide by the Science Suit system.

SCIENCE SUIT SYSTEM
As explained in the ruleset, adjacent the Armor System is the Science Suits. Science Suits lose ALL armor in exchange for hazard protection.
These allow you to pass through anomaly fields at a slow walk with scanner out.
You do not need to stop every few feet to check the scanner.
