
Duty is a paramilitary group, whose members live by a clear military charter. The ideology of the faction is to protect the mankind from the dangers of the Zone, and then completely destroy the Zone. Duty deals with the internal problems of the Zone. They fight mutants, anarchists and bandits as well as explore the Zone itself and its creatures.
According to some, notably the Freedom faction, Duty is funded by the government. Duty and the army have common goals - to contain, explore and destroy the Zone. Duty conflicts with members of the Freedom faction (referred to as anarchists), who believe that the Zone should be preserved and people should coexist with it peacefully, exploring it. Many stalkers consider Duty to be one of the strongest factions in the Zone. Duty is the only faction that purposefully eliminates mutants; often cooperating with hunters to fulfil their missions.
Duty is primarily made up of the survivors of military expeditions into the Zone, sent to take its territory under governmental control in the wake of the very first stalker incursions in 2009. Anomalies and mutants caused many casualties, while those who managed to survive eventually made their way to the Rostok Factory, where they stayed, fighting off monsters and coping with hunger and deprivation.

In the ASW/SML Games Duty is a Pre-Reg faction and player joinable faction. Their base is located in the relaively safe southern half of the Western Rostok Factory District. Duty as a faction preaches about defending the zone from threats, yet it is intentionally situated in a sheltered area largely focused on killing mutants and bullying loners, and has easy access to the military encampments for support. Meanwhile Freedom takes the brunt of constant attacks.
This should be considered for game purposes a PVPVE focused faction, and they are in DIRECT conflict with Freedom for control of Rostok. IF you want a heavier focus on combat against other factions players Duty is an excellent choice with its sheltered base.
